At Authorne, the holidays represent the story of family and the passage of traditions. These thoughtful rituals become tradition for us through repetition: a commitment to bring them to life each year.

For Authorne’s first-ever Holiday Collection, we reflected upon our own holiday traditions, those that have carried us through childhood and well into adulthood. We maintain the sense of wonder and joy so iconic to the season.

In reflecting upon the season, we are brought back to the twinkling city lights of New York City and the motifs that today remain a part of our collective memory:

The Magic of the Christmas Tree:

Recall the majesty of the giant Christmas Tree of the Nutcracker Ballet. Imbued with a dose of magic, the tree grows to a majestic, monumental scale, dwarfing the little ballerinas amidst its skirt.

One recalls holidays spent with family, craning on your very tippy toes to perch the triumphant star at the top of the tree. The tree represents constancy. It stands proud and resilient, reminding us that perseverance and faith bring dreams to life.

The Whimsy of the Gingerbread Man:

The Gingerbread Man invites us to assume our childlike wonder and enjoy life’s sweetest blessings. It reminds us of the bustling holiday markets where we as children flitted about hand in hand seeking out sweets and trinkets to brighten our spirits.

In Bryant Park during the holidays, we find ourselves at the very same booth, year after year, asking for two gingerbread cookies, one girl and one boy. Today, as a mother or a grandmother, these little gingerbread men take on new meaning: we too have our very own children who remind us of the whimsy of gingerbread men everyday.

The Brilliance of the Star:

So too is the Christmas star filled with hope. The star is a safe harbor of vibrant wishes, of dreams that reflect back to you amidst shimmering light. The star illuminates our path in the night and stands as a beacon, guiding us towards the right path.

This holiday season, the star also reminds us of our need to position ourselves boldly, brightly, to share our gifts with the world so that they too can illuminate with good tidings.

A Note About Our Holiday Collection:

We’ve elected to use Lab-Grown Diamonds for the holidays.

This new technology is a gift that offers creative freedom. The ability to play, experiment, and explore is the greatest advantage of lab-grown diamonds. It would be prohibitively expensive to create these playful shapes using natural diamonds. However, lab-grown diamonds provide room for trial and error, allowing for artistic freedom. For designers and artists, this is a true gift—we can push boundaries and create something truly out of the box that may become a gift or a collectible for you and yours.
